How to unsend an email in gmail

Everyone’s experienced that awful moment when you’ve accidentally hit send on an email you weren’t ready to release into the world.

However, these days the accidental send is not such a disaster, as most major email clients allow you to quickly recall a message, and no one is any the wiser.

Here’s how to recall a sent email in Gmail, Outlook and Hotmail.

How to recall an email on Gmail

Recalling an email in Gmail is simple, but you only have a short time after sending to do so.

After sending an email you will see a Message sent alert in the bottom left of the screen, alongside options to View message or Undo.

If you click Undo you can retract your sent email.

You have up to 30 seconds to un-send an email, and can change the amount of time in your settings.

To do this, click the gear icon in the top right, then head to See all settings > Undo send and select either 5, 10, 20 or 30 seconds.
